ENCAP’s Support Services team wants to partner with you to meet your unique needs, and help you identify and achieve your goals as you work toward stability. In addition to budgeting assistance, and connections to employment and other community resources, we also offer financial assistance – available on a limited basis - to those who qualify.
How do I qualify for financial hardship assistance?
You must meet all of the following criteria:
- Have at least one source of income
- Have an official eviction notice or shut-off notice (if applying for rent or utility assistance),
- Proof of residency in an Omaha Metro zip code
- Proof that you have been financially affected by COVID
- Household MONTHLY income at or below 200% Federal Poverty Level (check table below).

How do I apply for financial hardship assistance?
All individuals seeking financial assistance must first submit ALL of the required documents listed below to [email protected]:
- ID
- Proof of income for the last month. If you work, we need all paystubs you have received for the last 30 days and they MUST show your full name, pay date, and gross amount. Other examples of proof of income include SSI/SSDI letters with full name, date, and gross monthly benefit amount; unemployment payments; child support payments; bank statements; public assistance payments)
- 7 or 14 day Notice to Quit. This MUST be an OFFICIAL eviction notice issued by your landlord. We cannot accept handwritten notes, screenshots, etc. (if you are applying for rent assistance)
- Utility shut-off notice (if you are applying for utility assistance)
- Past due bill related to transportation or medical expenses (if you are applying for one of these types of assistance)
AFTER you send the required documents, you may then complete a Financial Assistance Screening Form online.

What should I expect after submitting my documents and screening form?
You will be notified by phone or email about your eligibility status. Due to our high call volume, we encourage you to apply to other agencies while you are waiting. Please note that if you apply over the weekend, your application will not be reviewed until the following Monday. If eligible, you will work with ENCAP’s Support Services Coordinator who will let you know when your request has been processed and when payment can be expected.
Is funding guaranteed if I meet the eligibility criteria?
No, financial hardship assistance funding is not guaranteed. Assistance depends on the funding available at the time of application and the applicant meeting all eligibility criteria.
